Last Wednesday at Dragonfly, it was another round of Guinness Live PK Challenge between Kenny & Howie! It was an exciting match between them!

Howie take over the stage 1st with his "Rocker style" singing that evening.

The judges like the way Howie sang but wished that he would change his style of singing someday. I agreed with both hand up!

Today I was at Haji Lane to shop for material for Rocher Creations (http://www.rocher-creations.blogspot.com) and I realised that are a lot more shop selling clothes.
The street are slowly developing into a FASHION STREET!!!

Actually I have high hope that HAJI LANE becoming a FASHION STREET like HARAJUKU STREET!!! Hope to see more fashion stores there and become the next "In" places to visit for all fashion-goer!!!

Many prominent designers and fashion ideas have sprung from Harajuku and incorporated themselves into other fashions throughout the world. Last year at Tangs Orchard, there was an event to promote Harajuku Style too and I bought a few clothes from the event too!

Harajuku is also a large shopping district that includes international brands, its own brands, and shops selling clothes young people can afford.

During the weekend, young people will dress in a variety of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, and decora, as well as cosplayers at Harajuku socializing. When I was at Harajuku during my trip there, I took this photo as I spotted this guy in the FROG suit and I find it quite cute! I wonder Singapore's Haji Lane will be like this one day? hahaha...

Today is Chinese New Year- seventh day and it is called "everyone birthday", "Ren Ri" or "Common man's birthday" !!!

The seventh day of CNY which is traditionally known as "Ren Ri", literally refers to"The Date of Man". It was said to be the day when human beings were created.

So it is everyone's birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older. It is also the day when tossed fish salad is eaten. People get together to toss the colourful salad, Yusheng and wishes for continued wealth and prosperity. This is only celebrated amongst the Chinese in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia and Singapore.

Fu Lu Shou ( 福禄寿) refers to the concept of
Good Fortune (Fu),
Prosperity (Lu),
and Longevity (Shou).

This Taoist concept is thought to date back to the Ming Dynasty, when the Fu Star, Lu Star and Shou Star were considered to be personified deities of these attributes respectively. The term is commonly used in Chinese culture to denote the three attributes of a good life. Statues of these three gods are found in nearly every Chinese home and many Chinese-owned shops on small altars with a glass of water, an orange or other auspicious offerings, especially during Chinese New Year.

Traditionally, they are arranged right to left (so Fu is on the right of the viewer, Lu in the middle, and Shou on the far left).

Guess why were the visitors crowding under the statue, some with umbrella?
They are collecting "Gold" that was sprinkle out from the statue. It was actually small gold coloured paper in fact. Chinese believed that the "Gold" will bring them good luck!!!

There was a Wishing Pond for people to toss a coin into the pond and make a wish.
Chinese believe by tossing a coin to the pond and making a wish, their wish will come true.

They have to aim their coin to hit the bell! I managed to hit it on my 2nd try!
It was quite fun!!!

And this year is the year of the DRAGON of cause!
So I will feature Mr Dragon's photo bigger amongst the other Zodiac animals!!!

It's round 31 of Guinness Live! And that night at Shanghai Dolly, we have two pretty ladies, Siling and Benita! Some rules for Guinness Live had changed and I think this is a good news to all contestants. They are now able to choose 3 songs to sing for each round.

Siling came out with a cool black outfit and engaged with the audience in clapping hands.
That night she chose an English song- "I hate myself for loving you" and wowed the audience.

Wow, Siling changed her outfit for her next song. Gorgeous!!!

Last night (22 Jan 2012), Me and a few friends came out after our New Year's Eve dinner for our CNY's outing. We came out for the purpose of going to the River Ang Bao 2012 at Marina Bay. Too bad it was raining and we can't have more photography at the River Ang Bao 2012 which we initially wanted to...

But nevertheless we managed to catch the firework displays at the Rooftop garden of Esplanade. Most of us were drenched after watching the fireworks displays.

Even though the rain, it was still worth seeing the beautiful fireworks displays for me and the rest I guess!!! I'm glad that I managed to snap some photo and share with you guys here!!!

After the fireworks display, we decided to hangout more at the Marina Square's MacDonald.

But later we found out that the MacDonald was closed already and we just find a spot and sit down to play UGLY DOLL!

Shuqing was so nice to bring some of this Sparkling stick for us to play. It's been so long since I last play them.

Today is Chinese New Year's Eve and it's a day where Chinese families gather for their annual reunion dinner. It is also known as Chú Xī (除夕) or "Eve of the Passing Year."

The annual dinner normally includes dishes like chicken and pork. Fish (魚, yú) is also one of the dishes, but intentionally not to be finished, and the remaining fish is stored overnight.

Why is that so?
Because 年年有魚/餘; (nián nián yǒu yú, or "every year there is fish/leftover") is a homophone for phrases which mean "be blessed every year" or "have profit every year". Similarly there is also a black hair-like algae, "fat choy"(髮菜, fǎ cài, literally "hair vegetable" in Cantonese) is also one of the featured dishes since its name sounds similar to "prosperity"(發財, fā cái).

And yes Chinese New Year cannot go without eating Yusheng too!!!

The tossing of "yu sheng" (鱼生) -- a raw fish salad also known as 'yee sang' or 'yuu sahng' -- is a common practice among the Chinese, symbolizing abundance, prosperity and vigor, especially in Singapore.

The ritual is also sometimes referred to as 'lo hei', which means to 'toss up luck', or 'toss and rise'. In other words, the higher you chuck your food, the more luck and good fortune will rain down on you in the coming year. Some of the common word people will say during this ritual are "Huat Ah", "歩歩高升", "年年有魚" , etc...

This year is the year of the Dragon! I love Dragon!!!

Just few months back, we have a big group of handsome looking Abercrombie & Fitch Singapore's male models posed shirtless outside the American apparel chain’s new flagship store at Knightsbridge, along Orchard Road in Singapore. That's was sure eye candy for the girls. Most of them are foreigners as you can see right...

Guess what? Just last night (18 Jan 2011), we have 20 over YOUNG, HOT & PRETTY Tiger Beer Singapore's female models at the TIGER LUNAR EXTRAVAGANZA 2012 held at Singapore Flyer and all of them are local!!! Eye candy for the guys turn!

Tiger Lunar Extravaganza is a celebration embodied the concept of “beer”, “friends” and “fortune” as well as the spirit of 聚 (togetherness).The celebration was held at the Singapore Flyer (Also known as “Singapore’s Wheel of Fortune”).

I love the idea of getting the local models for Tiger Beer event as you all know that Tiger beer is Singapore's first LOCALLY brewed beer which launched in 1932.

Keep it up Tiger Beer Singapore!!! Our local female models are more pretty and they are more friendly!!! Support the local models!!!

Why am I holding two Mandarin oranges?

This is actually a rituals conceptualised by Tiger Beer in collaboration with geomancer Grand Master Phang of New Trend Lifestyle. This is one of the ritual involved the casting of Mandarin oranges into a “Tiger Beer Five Fortune Pagoda” made up of Tiger Beer cans stacked to signify 五福临门 (Wu Fu Lin Men) or “Five Fortunes at the Door”. The five fortunes comprise longevity, wealth, health, kindness and benevolence. The “Tiger Beer Five Fortune Pagoda” can be replicated at home by Singaporeans with a 24-can pack of Tiger Beer to wish for the five types of fortune and good luck. So cool right!!!

What's this too?

Another ritual introduced at the event was the specially-created “Tiger Beer Dragon Wall” which involved guests slotting cans of Tiger Beer into a constructed wall to form the shape of a Water Dragon. It symbolised “the attraction of wealth from all directions by the Dragon on the Great Wall”. I have never seen such ritual before and I think it is really cool!!!

Bringing in auspiciousness - as symbols of strength and good luck, the presence of a Lion and Dragon will bring good luck!!! HUAT AH!!!

After the Lions and Dragon dance, we were ushered by the Tiger Beer Models to “Lou Hei” in the Singapore Flyer!!! I was waiting for this moment!!!

At the apex, 165 metres above sea-level, we had our “yu-sheng” tossing and toasting for good fortune with Tiger Beer.

Yusheng (also spelt Yu Sheng) meaning "raw fish" is a Chinese New Year dish, served traditionally on the seventh day of Chinese New Year. I really love this salad dish with Abalone and Salmon!!!

And I'm sure this has to be one of the most memorable countdown event most of us have been to, with great music (kudos to my brother, Kevin Tan and his ipod's club hits) and the awesome company ofa my friends, brothers!

Guinness Live- Despite falling sick, Benita continued to do her best on stage!!!

Together hosting on stage with him on the left is William Scorpion, mentor for Team Shanghai Dolly.

That night we have Benita from Team Shanghai Dolly singing on stage.

We also have the handsome Kenny of Team Dragonfly on stage.

Both of the singers were very professional. Despite falling sick, Benita continued to do her best on stage!!! After singing that night, she was not able to stand properly and the mentor pulled over a chair for her.

Everyone saw her pale expression and clapped for her.

How u feel of ur performance that day?
I enjoyed myself greatly, its definately more exciting when you get to choose the songs for yourself. Of course, there is still tons of things to improve on which i will slowly work on to put out a better show for everyone to watch.

Did u agreed with what judges commented?
Hmm.. i would say yes and no? certain comments like the song key should be higher i do agree. As for the avoidance for english song, I still might possibly do it because I derive a great deal of enjoyment when singing it.

What will u do to improve?
Watching videos of the performance helps alot, it makes me be aware of my every action. like where I place my hand, whichsoever.

Any words for ur friends and supporters?
Great thanks to those who came! without them the experience wouldnt been as good !

Marina Bay Singapore is getting more and more beautiful and I'm proud to be a Singaporean and staying in Singapore, the garden city!!! Above is a photo of Marina Bay taken by me in the day time and during the night time on 31 Dec 2011.

Marina Bay Singapore is a place which I will always reccomend to my oversea friend who comes to Singapore! Me & my friends loves to shop, dine and have photography at Marina Bay.

And I always like to visit this place for New Year Countdown Celebration too. Just few days ago (31 Dec 2011), I was there and I blogged about my experience.

Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012- Did you missed the FUN?

Happy New Year to Everyone!!!
Hope you guys had a great countdown on 31 Dec 2011?
Did you miss the great fun countdown at Marina Bay?

From the view of the Swissotel, the Stamford (66th floors), you can see the whole Marina Bay is all ready for the night celebration!!!

Did you saw the white dots on the water?
Yes! They were actually 20,000 of wishing spheres bearing the wishes of fellow singaporeans and visitors floating on at the bay. During the night, they actually transformed into an art installation of hope and light. And trust me the sight was simply AMAZING and I have never seen such a beautiful sight in my life!!!

Where and what's going on on 31 Dec 2011?
There were lot of happening events going on to celebrate the last day of 2011, welcoming the new year!!! One of the happening places was the PROMONTORY@ MARINA BAY of cause!!!

Lot of people arriving early on that day to grab a good spot for photography!!!

It was like a CARNIVAL!!!
Yup that's the DOWNTOWN BITES by MARINA BAY LINK MALL!!!
There were stalls selling foods and drinks (Four Seasons Gourmet Market, Munch, Starbucks and more) to make sure you won't get hungry during the countdown celebration!!!

Well that was a stage set for performances too!!!

HAPPY 3+65 NEW YEAR's EVE COUNTDOWN SHOW (6.30pm-8.30pm)!!!
It's FREE ADMISSION!!!

We have many young emerging talents at the concert hosted by Republic of Pop which aims to bring Singapore music to the forefront and promote local talents!!!

RHYTHMS BY THE BAY with FM POP MUSIC SCHOOL (9.30pm- 12am) continued to bring the audience with their 'live' unplugged renditions of popular English and Mandarin songs ranging from the 80's to current top 40 hits!!!

They are a division of Funkie Monkie Productions which is headed by A-list Madarin Pop Music Producer/Songwriter Eric Ng, awarding-winning lryicist Xiaohan and producer/singer/song writer Jim Lim.

He is Aydan, the vocal instructor from Funkie Monkies.
I manage to have a short interview with him.

What are the songs you all sang?
we had a mixture of songs and mixtures of singers. students/ teachers and instrumentalists.

How you all got into this?
We got this from URA yeah.

What do you think was the highlight for show?
The highlight was perhaps the opportunity for students to showcase their vocal skills for the night.

Total how many performers?
We have around 30 performers with 2 guitars and even a cello and violin yeah.

Do you have anything you wanna share ?
We hope that everyone had enjoyed themselves in this event yeah and the variety of songs we have sang. like my " little umbrella" hahaah and also move like jagger by another female vocalist who perform with me regularly. yeah.

YES!!! I'm all ready for Marina Bay Singapore Countdown Celebration!!!

Last night (29 Dec 2011), I got a rare opportunities to meet up with the Lighting Designers, Mr Milton Arnold (Technical Manager of Lighting) and Mr George Panait (Assistant Technical Manager of Lighting) for Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012!

It was certatinly my pleasure meeting up with them and hearing from them on their preparation for this year show on 31 Dec 2011.

They said they hope Singaporean and visitors to the bay will like their work!!! According to them, the preparation for the countdown celebration started since September and this year would be a spectacular sight with 20,000 Floating Wishing Spheres, transforming the bay into an art installation of Hope and Light.

It was truely not an easy task making sure all the light going in order and also the weather condition in Singapore had make it even challenging for them

I like to give my salute to all the people involving for the Countdown Celebration which include:

I think I put up a veri nice fight yesterday and I had 3 different genre of songs.
What did the judges said and do you agreed to the comments?
Yeah they like my renzhi and I also do like it after listening to the recordings.

What will you be working on to improve on your singing?
I will work more on dynamics especially on fast songs. As I am very used to singing love ballards

What do you have to say to your fans and friends?

How do you feel of your performance tht night?
I feel that me n Alvin had a friendly match as we both said that we would wan to deliver a nice and exciting performance for everyone that nice. We hope we did.

What did the judges said and do you agreed to the comments?
The judges mentioned that the first song ( jiu ai hai shi zui mei ) I can inject more feelings yeah. Yeah I think I have to get into the feel of the song even faster.
As the competition progresses, I understood what the mentors were saying and I tried to incorporate them into the singing and stage and I do hope I am able to portray a better me on stage.

What will you be working on to improve on your singing?
I will be working a lot on the dynamics of singing and the songs. And also more stage works and how to interact with the audience more.

What do you have to say to your fans and friends?
Thanks NIC for the wonderful LED board! The moment I saw it. I was shocked yeah. She said she ordered from shanghai and dhl to Singapore. Thanks .

A quick interview with Aydan & Willis

How do you feel of your your performance?
Aydan: I really enjoyed myself on the stage last Thursday and I had a great time singing willis. I think that if I can I will add more emotions to the song which I had sang.
Willis: Eh, I had dinner with Aydan. But after that dinner i have an upset stomach. Lol. I think my face shows it when i was on stage.

What did the mentors and judges said and do you agreed?
Aydan: Both mentors said I improved from the last round and I do agree that it was a breakthrough from my previous rounds and usual performance style. ( image and stage presence and performance.) I do agree and I will keep on improving yeah.
Willis: The mentors pointed this out and remind me not to show it even if im sick and try to deliver my best. Which i agree. My first song was clearly showing how I feel inside. But after they reminded me. I think I did much better for the 2nd song.

What will you improve on?
Aydan: the next thing I would improve on is my canto as my next round I will be singing 2 canto songs. As a Hokkien this is really very challenging.
Vocally I will also try to add in more emotions and impact in the singing yeah.

Lastly what do you want to say to your supporters?
Aydan: I really love you all! ThankS!
Willis: I wana thank all those who have supported me and new supporters i made during that night. I have random people coming up to tell me I did well with the 2nd song and they love it. Glad to take pictures with them too. And thanks Aydan for making that night more fun and easy going instead of those usual "I must win" kinda feeling. It makes the whole competition more friendly and enjoyable while still being able to improve and challenge ourselves. =]

Surprised Birthday Celebration during Kobe's House-warming party

It was 26th December (one day after X'mas), still a holiday in Singapore!!!

Me and a group of friends gathered happily at Kobe's house for a House-warming party cum Post X'mas Party.

I did not go empty handed but with some packets of KIT KAT wafer chocolate. They are our all time favorite snacks!!!

My friend's mum was really nice!!! Although we had dinner already before we went to their house, she cooked us some food- fried mee hoon (Tom yam flavor), sardine sandwiches. And all these are Vegetarian food and they tasted really yummy!!!

She even cut us some fruits- kiwi, grapes and pears. So sweeeeeet....

It was really an unforgettable moment!!! Looking forward for our next gathering!

My Review:
I just watch The Inbetweeners recently and this movie will have you simultaneously cringeing and howling with laughter for sure.

There was a dance scene which I find it the most funniest in the movie.
It's a great movie to watch with friends!!! Enjoy!

Similarities of Singapore Wishing Sphere & Taiwan Sky Lantern

Do you know that the Taiwan- Sky Lantern (Left) & Singapore- Wishing Sphere (Right) have some similarities?

Sky Lantern in Taiwan- During the night of lantern festival, many people in Taiwan will fly the sky lantern by writing their wishes on the paper lantern and pray their wishes come true. Long time ago, people thought the lantern will fly up to the heaven. The god of heaven will receive their messages and will give them blessing.

The sky lantern probably was invented before Late Han Dynasty. A prime minister Kung-Ming used sky lantern for military liaison purpose during Three Kingdom epoch (221A.D.). Some people still call the sky lantern as Kung-Ming lantern.

There is a story for this custom. Once a village was attacked by the private. When the private ship came, people ran to and hide in the mountain. When private left, some one in the town flew the sky lantern to tell people in the mountain safe to come home. It happened on the 15th lunar day in that year. Now people do the same way to depict their peace, safety and without accident.

Wishing Sphere in Singapore- Every year, the people of Singapore celebrate the coming of the New Year by launching wishing spheres into Marina Bay– the bay of hope and light.

Each wishing sphere represents a hope, a belief that the New Year will bring new possibilities and a brighter tomorrow.

The tradition of the wishing spheres was launched years ago by Singapore’s authorities as a way to bring people together and now it has become an international event.

Also like the Taiwan's Sky Lantern, people from all over the world will pen down their wishes for the new year on the Wishing Sphere. The Sphere will then be launched into Marina Bay- the bay of hope and light instead of flying up the sky like the Sky Lantern.

This year, 20,000 wishing spheres carrying the hopes of over 500,000 people in Singapore will be set afloat in Marina Bay to form part of a spectacular visual arts display. The wishes were collected from various wishing stations across the island over the month.

Patrons unable to present proof of eligibility are required to upgrade their concession tickets to full price tickets.

Am I allowed to re-enter the event?
You may re-enter the event venue via the main entry or designated re-entry points. Please make sure that you receive a stamp on your ticket stub when you are leaving the event venue. What if there is heavy rain during the event day?

Earlier (23 Dec 2011), I was walking by Orchard road and passed by Lucky Plaza with my friend and we were jokingly saying will it flood again at Lucky Plaza...

After 30 min later, we walked passed again and it really flooded due to the long rain...

I'm just curious why after so many incident of flooding and the water still flood into the Lucky Plaza? Didn't the management do something to it?

It is really bad impression to the tourist at Orchard? How would they think?
I really hope the management is doing something soon as I believe more rain will come in the next few weeks...

Launching of the Wishing Sphere with Voluntary Welfare Organisations

Did you notice the white sphere at the Marina Bay?

Yes these are the Wishing Sphere which was collected from various Wishing Stations across Singapore over the month for Marina Bay Singapore Countdown Celebration (31 Dec 2011)!!!
This year 20,000 of these wishing sphere, all marked with hand-written wishes made by Singaporean and Visitors will floated on the water and become a visual arts installation at Marina Bay- the Bay of Hope and Light.

Yesterday evening (20 Dec 2011), there was a Wishing Sphere activities with the VWOs (Voluntary Welfare Organisations)!!!

There were elderly from Moral SAC (MacPherson), Moral NL (Kaki Bukit).
Also children & parents from Hougang Sheng Hong FSC and Moral FSC (Bedok North).

Each group consists of about 30-40 pax.

Several Wishing Spheres were passed around for them to pen their wishes.

"Amor" means "Love"
"Prosperidad" means "Prosperity"

Hey guys, I bet you guys had heard this "BIG HOO HA" on the video of Aaron Tan aka Mr Priest!!!

Aaron Tan became infamous overnight.
Everyone is talking about him!!!

All this begin with the 18 year old boy- Aaron Tan who posted a video on Facebook taunting a 14 years old boy known as Ryanzxc Gobangwall on Facebook.

In the video, Aaron Tan accused Ryan of “honging (flirting in Singapore gangster lingo)” his ex-girlfriend, Nina Wantyouonly and threatens to take revenge on him.

What do you think of your performance your last round with Phoebee?
I think it was better as compared to my last round, maybe it's due to the adjustment of my mindset. I treated it as a show, a performance, and not a competition, therefore I was much more relaxed and was able to give a better performance than the previous one. :):)
However, I know that there are room for improvement, and I will continue to work hard, and put up a good show.

What did the judges say and do you agree?
My breathing caused the inability in producing a beautiful high notes for my first song, 沒有煙抽的日子, and that is one of the major flaws that I agreed with.

What will you be working on for next round?
I will definitely work on my breathing, and I'm going to maintain a more relaxed mind, so as to give a good show for my subsequent rounds :):)

I really want to express my gratitude to all my friends, TEAM SHANGHAI DOLLY, and most importantly, my mum, who gave them their supports in coming for all the rounds. MRT BREAKDOWN = INCOME OPPORTUNITY FOR SMRT'S TAXI DRIVER

Recent incident (14 Dec 2011)- The Circle Line MRT had reportedly broken down from Marymount to one-north station between 6am to 6.40am.

Last night incident (15 Dec 2011)- Trains came to a sudden halt and there was NO AIRCON & NO LIGHT.

Last night(15 Dec), some passengers resorted to breaking a train's window to get ventilation; at least one woman was said to have fainted. This could be really serious and I am sure there is alot of children or elderly people in the train!!! Read more of the news here.

Just when such sad incident happened, there was someone who didn't seem to show sympathy to this. This is a photo found online!!! It is a actually a message sent by SMRT TAXIS to their Taxi driver to tell them there is "INCOME OPPORTUNITY" because of the BREAKDOWN!!!

Netizen Tan Kok Tim: Tonight’s MRT train service shutdown is the first major test of our system ever since it started operations in 1987. Many commuters sat in pitched darkness in the trains stalled in the tunnels; some commuters walked on the tracks in the tunnels in darkness to find their way out; and a window of a train was seen to be smashed with a fire extinguisher to allow air into the stuffy train carriage. In times of tranquillity and orderliness, are we really prepared for emergency situations in the tunnels? Is the system up to mark to prepare ourselves for a major emergency when thousands of commuters are trapped in trains in the tunnels? No electricity, total darkness and no fresh air are situations that no one would like to be trapped in stalled trains in the tunnels, more so if there is a fire. Deadly smoke due to fire is the greatest hazard and danger to anyone trapped underground. Are we really ready when we are hit by a major emergency, or a disaster in the tunnels or for that matter in a deep underground MRT station? LTA/SMRT cannot be found wanting in their preparations to ensure there is adequate backups in the systems to ensure that not a single life will be put in danger when disaster strikes. I hope we will not be caught with: Failing to plan is planning to fail. This is an old saying that is relevant to those responsible for mass transit systems not just here but worldwide. They must not be caught flat footed.
